Shouting or yelling is an activity when people in their lifetime raise their voice in anger even though some people have a habit of shouting on a regular basis.

Yelling is not good for maintaining healthy relationships as it is not a constructive way to deal with a situation yet every person engages in yelling in their lifetime under certain situations.

Shouting is an emotional tyranny on the person or persons on whom the person yelling or shouting tries to gain an upper hand in a particular situation as a means of gaining control over the concerned person or people.

Shouting is a form of intimidation and is equivalent to bullying a person or a group of persons as a way of forcing them to get the things done as intended by the yeller.

Reasons for why people do shout– A brief analysis

There are different reasons why people do shout when they are angry even though most of the reasons for this activity is not at all good but it is important that the recipient does react correctly which is more about not being reactive.

Shouting is a reflection of emotional instability of the shouter even though his or her yelling is intended to show the strength and dominance of the person who is in anger.

Following are the five reasons why a person yells when in angry and these include

Poor coping skills or coping mechanism of the person in anger.

Loss of control over the prevailing situations.

Those who are extremely sensitive use yelling or shouting as a tool.

People with aggressive tendencies or behavior shout more.

Some persons shout when they feel neglected.

How to deal or react with a person’s anger 

There are better ways to deal with a person’s anger thereby diffusing the confronting situation and these steps include

Staying calm even if you are feeling angry from inside is the best option for being a part of the solution and not the problem by using a calm tone of voice is recommended.

Mentally assess the situation when you are being shouted at works effectively.

Avoid encouraging the person shouting by performing certain acts or agreeing to work on situations that the person who is shouting wants them to do as such acts would encourage the person to shout at you again in the future thereby finding yourself the subject to their shouting deeds more often.

Take a break from the person who is shouting or the person in anger for you to calm down from the stress generated due to the concerned person’s anger. The request for a break may be in the form of a statement instead of question.

Address the situations appropriately after you feel that your emotions have been calmed down and then return back to the shouter to talk to resolve the cause of his or her reasons for being angry forcing him to shout.
